Apalachee Center offers psychosocial rehabilitative services (PSR) in Leon, Gadsden, Jefferson, Liberty, Madison and Taylor counties. PSR services allow individuals with serious mental illness to gain the independent living, social and communication skills necessary to allow them to remain in or return to independent functioning in community settings. The program is designed to assist the individuals to learn new ways of overcoming the impact of psychiatric symptoms, engage with their communities, and get the support they need. PSR focuses on teaching and supporting social skills needed for independent living and effective life management.
Group activities include the development and maintenance of necessary daily living skills, such as: food planning and preparation; money management; maintenance of the living environment; development of problem-solving techniques; social skills; medication education; and symptom management, by using an Evidenced Based Practice group curriculum in a structured environment.
