Netsmart Continues Public Policy Leadership
As legislation focused on mental health gains momentum in Congress, Netsmart continues as a strong advocate on behalf of its clients and providers across the country.
Latest Update
On August 1, 2013 Rep. Tim Murphy [R-PA] and Rep. Ron Barber [D-AZ] introduced the bipartisan Behavioral Health Information Technology Act. This important measure, which is fully paid for, would help psychiatric hospitals, community mental health centers, clinical psychologists and inpatient/outpatient addiction providers qualify for incentive payments under the HITECH Act’s Meaningful Use program – established to encourage the adoption of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and associated clinical quality measures to enhance patient care.
Netsmart is a leading member of the Behavioral Health IT (BHIT) Coalition, an advocacy group comprised of key organizations including the National Council for Behavioral Health and the National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems. The BHIT Coalition was a strong supporter and advocate for the BHIT Act, and will continue the effort for passage of this legislation in the House and the introduction of a companion bill in the Senate.
