Apalachee-Center

Short-Term Residential Program (8 Beds)

The SRT is a 8 bed unit which provides intensive treatment for persons experiencing a mental health crisis who are in need of a longer stay alternative to hospitalization.

Apalachee Center’s Short-Term Residential Treatment Program (SRT) is a eight bed specialized residential unit which serves clients that have been determined by their treatment team to require a longer term stay than the crisis stabilization unit (CSU) offers. This determination is based on the client continuing to meet Baker Act criteria during their current stay on the CSU, number of previous admissions, history of past discharge plans that have not been successful, and lack of engagement in community based services.

The SRT is able to provide these high risk clients a safe, therapeutic environment for an extended length of time (average length of stay is approximately 3 months) to be assessed more thoroughly, receive more intensive treatment, and develop a more comprehensive discharge plan to enhance the likelihood of success in a community based setting.

The SRT offers a comprehensive array of group interventions on a daily basis. Due to the extended length of stay, unit Admission / Discharge Coordinators (ADC’s) are able to explore more discharge options such as finding family members, securing benefits, or working with other community agencies to accept clients more readily with a longer period of stability.
