Apalachee Center Announces John Convertino Award Winner
Tallahassee, FL, June 16, 2016 – The Governing Board of Directors of Apalachee Center presents the 4th Annual John Convertino Award of Excellence to Anne Vinson. Ms. Vinson is the Case Management Supervisor at Apalachee Center’s Wakulla County clinic. Anne is active in the Wakulla community; attends community events and meetings, not only to inform the community of the services available at Apalachee Center, but to gain more knowledge of resources available to link clients to. Her co-workers said “Anne is the glue at our office; she’s hardworking; cares about the clients, and is dedicated to helping her staff and clients grow.” Dr. Jay Reeve, Apalachee Center’s Chief Executive Officer, said “The John Convertino Award is Apalachee’s highest internal honor. It is given to Apalachee staff who are universally regarded as exemplary, by peers, supervisors, senior managers, and our Governing Board. Ms. Vinson is an excellent example of the kind of dedicated, welcoming, highly skilled staff person that Apalachee is proud to have on our team.”
The John Convertino Award of Excellence honors the memory of John Convertino, who was an outstanding Apalachee Center leader for 26 years. Beginning his Apalachee career in 1980, Mr. Convertino was a central part of Apalachee Center leadership until his death in 2009. Regarding Mr. Convertino, Dr. Reeve stated: “In his 14 years as Chief Administrative Officer, John set the standard for thoughtful, competent, and fair workplace performance. He provided a model of unfailing integrity, quality focus, and caring for the entire community, and was an integral part of the Apalachee team until his untimely death in 2009.”
This award is presented annually, by the Board of Directors, to the Apalachee Center employee who has demonstrated to their peers, supervisors and co-workers, the values that John Convertino exemplified in his work at Apalachee Center. Three other outstanding employees were nominated for this award, and honored at the meeting: Linda Boles, Darred Griffin and Cary Southern.
